Married : Shea + Matt -Mr C’s Allenhurst , NJ
“Some Things Just Cant Wait “
Shea and matt were scheduled to get married Saturday august 27 2011 on the beach in asbury park. With hurricane Irene fast approaching and
Mandatory evacuations at the jersey shore the wedding was canceled . However, They were not going to let that get in their way . They wanted to get married and as their cake said “some things just can’t wait ” . They were going to get married on Friday . With just hours of notice they secured a venue , ( mr C in allenhurst Nj , the site of their scheduled rehearsal dinner ) flowers ( a bouquet from trader joes … Although the official flowers later came ) a cake , a hair dresser, makeup ( the mac makeup counter ) and most importantly their closest family and friends.
They had their ceremony on the beach club deck overlooking the water . In place of the scheduled steel drum band was an I pod streaming music as they came down the aisle .
I was so touched at the events of the day . There was so much emotion and
It was a true example of what a wedding should be . Shea + Matt were just so happy that they were getting married that the details just did not matter . The venue (especially Karen ) and guests went above and beyond to make sure the event was special.
Even though this wedding was not what they planned , they will have a story to tell for the rest of their lives .
Similar situations and wedding cancelations happened all over the tri state area last weekend . My heart goes out to all the couples who were effected by Irene…….

Great Shots, great Story, I am proud of you!
Such a moving story. So well documented! My favorite photo is the one with the birds in the crazy sky above them. Awesome work.
I’m really, really touched by these photos. Magnificent work! I love the shots of them running away from the bulldozer on the beach and the one of her with arms up in the air, as to say “we overcame” in the “danger area”. Yay!
